12/8/16  To-do List

There is no special way to attack this action list. If it seems overwhelming, just do the first two items to make it easier.  If you have a little more time, do the third….and the fourth…. Or, choose items that speak to your heart.  Some people cut and paste the list, print it off and take it with them so they can check items off while they are out and about during the day and just waiting or driving.  Others click and do items as they work on their computer or phone.  There is no right way to do this.  Just do something!

  1. Call your DC senators and ask them to support the legislation that Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Dick Durbin (D-IL) are drafting legislation that would protect the Dreamers.  Thank Senators Graham and Durbin, too!

  1. Petition to tell Donald Trump not to strip NASA's Climate Science Budget:

  1. More Trump “victory tour” events have been added!  Keep requesting tickets (I hear people are using fake names/numbers and even signing up to be volunteers!). Perhaps they are catching on, but it appears you now need to use a phone number that can be texted back to.

  1. Sign the petition to Joe Biden and Senate Democrats: Confirm Merrick Garland to Supreme Court on January 3

  1. Petition to Congress:  Hands off our Medicare!

  1. "Petition:  Block and resist any Trump nominee who embraces racism, xenophobia, misogyny, bigotry, corporate cronyism or Wall Street greed.

  1. Petition to state attorney generals to ask the U.S. Supreme Court to invalidate winner take all for electors

  1. And another specifically for the attorney general of NY:

  1. Call your representatives in DC and ask them to support Reps. Swalwell and Cummings Bill to  Create Independent Bipartisan Commission to Investigate Foreign Interference in U.S. Elections

  1. Sign this petition supporting a big investment in infrastructure jobs:

  1. Here is a petition asking these companies to reevaluate their advertising on Breitbart:

  1. .Here is another  chance to help convince electors to vote their conscience.  Please join me, sign the petition and share it far and wide! We have one last chance to save the world as we know it!…/our-one-last-chance-to.fb51…

  1. Consider signing the petition:  Ballot Initiative To Amend The Michigan Constitution: Equal Protection For LGBTQ Citizens

  1. Formerly known as HB4605, which was dropped, is now probably going to be stealthily put into another bill so we don’t realize it.  The intent of the language is to gut the protected School Aid Fund upwards of $400 million under the guise of "cleaning up the tax code" leading to $271 LESS in per pupil spending across the state next year.  No matter where they put it, what they call it, please contact your representatives and senators and tell them that you do not support any changes that result in lower per-student spending!

  1. The Voter (suppression)  ID bills (HB 6066-6068)  have passed the house, and go to the senate today. CALL YOUR STATE SENATOR and register your displeasure with the proposed voter ID legislation, which would disenfranchise a number of our fellow Michiganders.   Find your senator here:

  1. While you are on the phone with your senator’s office, make known your feelings about HB 4643 and 4630, which were passed last evening in the State House.  These are anti-picketing/anti-union bills.
