  1. From The White House:  “Tens of thousands of Americans gave us input before the President addressed the Nation. We listened because we want to hear directly from Americans like you. Please take just a few seconds and let us know your opinions on President Trump’s speech and vision for the future. “  Here is their Joint Address Exit Survey:  https://www.whitehouse.gov/joint-address-exit-survey

  1. From one of our own:  The White House proposal to reduce the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) budget is dangerous for all of us. The radar images you see in your weather app and on tv forecasts all come from NOAA satellites. A 22% cut to that program alone would be devastating. There would be cuts to other programs as well.  https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/energy-environment/wp/2017/03/03/white-house-proposes-steep-budget-cut-to-leading-climate-science-agency/?utm_term=.973a897a51c8 Please contact your rep on the House Budget Committee to ensure these essential services.  Member listed here:  http://budget.house.gov/about/115th-membership.htm

  3. I'm also calling my state representatives to speak in favor of or oppose legislation they're considering. Because my state is Texas, there is much to consider. Today, I was calling, asking my state senator to oppose SB-25, a bill ostensibly to protect physicians from being sued if a baby is born with a disability, but which some fear will be used to withhold information from parents if the physician fears they might choose to abort if a fetus has disabilities. Texas is attempting to pass a whole series of laws that limit choice and, sometimes, hamper maternal health. I did some research first so I could decide how I felt and then called. The wonderful young aide on the phone mentioned that Texas has MyTLO (search for "Texas Legislature Online") that helps constituents see what's being considered and where it is in the approval process. I mention this in case others might be trying to keep up with their state legislatures. I'm sure many states have such sites, although I somehow had forgotten that ours does. Linda P.

  4. Hi Susan, Could you add this to a future issue of Rogan's List? Ben Carson’s demeaning comments referring to slaves as immigrants, who “worked even longer, even harder for less. But they too had a dream that one day their sons, daughters… might pursue prosperity and happiness in this land,” shows that he does not understand the sacrifices and history of African Americans in the United States. The museum’s webpage states that the purpose is to seek to understand American history through the lens of the African American experience. The museum has a display about Ben Carson’s medical achievements. Let’s write to the director to request he remove Ben Carson’s exhibit as he does not understand and promote the reality of this important part of American history. National Museum of African American History and Culture, Director Lonnie Bunch, 1400 Constitution Ave., NW, Washington DC 20560-0007.
