1.      Please remember that during this Congressional recess to scroll back through Rogan’s List and find continuing issues that need calls to legislators.

  1. From MomsRising: Tell your member of Congress to defend the media and the judiciary branch from Donald Trump's efforts to de-legitimize them. Tell your U.S. Senator it's time to put country before party: Stand up to Trump and stand for our nation now!

  1. Jeff Sessions has yet to recuse himself from investigations involving the Trump administration. Call the Department of Justice and demand that Sessions recuse himself from these investigations. 5calls.org has helpful background information and a call script you can use: https://5calls.org/#issue/recwP9xfcrWBMJiQV

  1. “Republicans Make Killing Consumer Protections a Priority”:  http://www.latimes.com/business/lazarus/la-fi-lazarus-cfpb-republican-bills-20170221-story.html  Contact your legislators and know that we have benefited from these protections and need them to stay.

  1. While the rest of the world is seriously addressing climate change, the Republicans are going backwards and eliminating protections that were set to serve us well.  https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/energy-environment/wp/2017/02/20/trump-to-roll-back-obamas-climate-water-rules-through-executive-action/?utm_term=.a5fb3170855b  While some of this will be done by an executive order, our legislators need to know that we do not think that these moves will serve us, our children, or our grandchildren well in the long run.  Call them.

  1. Sen. Warren and Rep. Clark introduced the Presidential Conflict of Interest Act of 2017 to the Senate and House in early January. Since then, the bills have stalled in their respective committees (although the House Bill does have over 100 cosponsors now.) These bills would require the president and vice president to divest funds that pose a conflict of interest, and would also require them to submit their tax returns to Congress and the Office of Government Ethics. We've got some work to do to make sure these bills proceed.

    1. Call the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Constitution and Civil Justice and tell them that you support HB 371. A list of members can be found here: https://judiciary.house.gov/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/115th-Constitution-and-Civil-Justice-Subcommittee-Updated-21517.pdf

    1. Call your representatives and ask them to cosponsor and support HB 371.

    1. Call the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs and tell them that you support SB 65. A list of members can be found here:  https://www.hsgac.senate.gov/about

    1. Call your senators and ask them to cosponsor and support SB 65.

  1. We all need accurate information in order to make the best decisions, whether we are private citizens, businesses, or policymakers.  If you fear that these data will be degraded or eliminated by the current administration, then it's important to realize that by far the easiest way to do so is to defund the federal statistical system.  Right now, the statistical system lacks Congressional champions, so these key committees need to know that the voters care!  You can sign on to this letter asking members of Congress to support and fund Federal statistics:  http://apdu.org/2017/02/08/help-support-federal-data/

From Build the Wave: …want to plug the Fallada Project. Basically participants, following the brave acts of a couple who lead a postcard resistance against the Nazis, buy/print, address and stamp the postcards on the site and leave them EVERYWHERE as an act of local resistance, hopefully leading to an act of national resistance as people find and mail the cards. There's only one card template now, but I understand there will be more options soon. And you can buy them addressed to the White House or with a blank address. Oh and your first 250 cards are free with a code from Vistaprint. Personally, I'm not a #NotMyPresident person (I know people swing both ways on this, but that's my stance), but the cards say #NotOurChoice, and that subtle difference appeals to me. 1. From one of our own:  Jason Chaffetz is once again going after Hillary Clinton's emails.  http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_CONGRESS_CLINTON_EMAILS?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2017-02-16-18-55-15  I went to the whistleblower section of the House Oversight Committee's site to report wrongdoing on the part of the Oversight Committee itself. You can do that here: https://oversight.house.gov/whistle/  Here's what I said: “The Committee is once again focusing on Hillary Clinton's emails rather than a real emergency: Russian interference in our election, the transition afterwards, and the new administration. Aside from the ENORMOUS waste of taxpayer money, what on earth are you thinking? Shoddy ethics and partisan payback will not sit well with the electorate come 2018. Do your job.”

There is still time to be part of the postcard avalanche for Paul Ryan.  Since he is so hard to get a hold of, on Wednesday UltraViolet wants to deliver a truckload of postcards to his house with our concerns.  Go here to write your message for them to include:  https://act.weareultraviolet.org/sign/paulryan_postcards/

  1. From Michael Moore: “Everyone! Our job this morning is to call our members of Congress and US Senators -- especially the Democrats -- and demand that they cease all Congressional business until they appoint a special committee to investigate the "numerous" links between the Trump campaign and Russian intelligence officials. They must also call upon Attorney General Sessions to recuse himself and appoint a special prosecutor. The Dems must bring a halt to anything happening on the floor of the Senate or House until this is done. To carry on as if this potentially traitorous action never happened, to just go about "business as usual" today, is an OBSCENITY. Hundreds of thousands of your relatives and mine died so we could have this most basic of rights: A free and fair and incorruptible election. If we are not willing to fight for THIS, then WHO ARE WE? If our Democratic representatives are too spineless to shut this charade down, theN they must be put on notice TODAY that we will primary them in 2018 with REAL progressive fighters who are true Democrats. Please call and ask to speak to your Senators and House members NOW: 202-225-3121 or 202-224-3121. Let's light up the switchboard all morning. Please act as if your country depends on your line call. It does.  ALL HANDS ON DECK!”

  1. David Friedman's confirmation hearing begins today for his nomination as U.S. Ambassador to Israel.  His reputation is quite questionable for this fragile position.  https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2016/12/david-friedman-trump-embassy-israel/510905/ Call the Senate Foreign Relations Committee 202-224-4651 to voice your concern about this nominee's strong publicly politicized views in the Middle East.  The role of ambassador should call for a more accomplished diplomatic nominee for this part of the world.  Call each member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to voice your concern.  Here is a listing of the committee members with phone numbers:  https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1SfoKh8Bjc05Bgat14nmrGH4xTzyLm0Bh1J-eRd8eOYU/htmlview

  1. Since it was created in 2011, the CFPB has returned roughly $11.8 billion to 29 million consumers. That’s an average of $407 for the equivalent of 9 percent of the U.S. population. http://thehill.com/policy/finance/319517-gop-bill-would-eliminate-consumer-financial-protection-bureau  Yet, corporate Democrats are now teaming up with Trump to tear it to shreds.
